Nature managed by Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities is under increasing pressure but is generally declining less rapidly than in other lands

Recognition of the knowledge, innovations and practices, institutions and values of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities and their inclusion and participation in environmental governance often enhances their quality of life, as well as nature conservation, restoration and sustainable use.

Humans need to be humbler when interacting with the natural world. We cannot stop sunrise or sunset, nor can we impact winter or the winds. We need to avoid human exceptionalism and stop neglecting nature, whose laws are stronger than those laws of humans.
