In line with decision 14/CP.29 and the Baku Workplan of the LCIPP 2025-2027, the Facilitative Working Group (FWG) is planning to convene the LCIPP Regional Gathering for the Pacific from 18–21 August 2026 at Sofitel Fiji Resort in Nadi, Republic of Fiji.
Discussions at the gathering will focus on the Pacific region.
The draft provisional agenda for the gathering is available below. Please note that it will be updated in the coming days.
- Are you a knowledge holder or practitioner from Indigenous Peoples and/or local communities in the Pacific?
- Would you like to share your experiences and knowledge to help shape climate action grounded in Indigenous values, worldviews, and local knowledge systems?
If yes, we invite you to complete the form to express your interest in the LCIPP Regional Gathering for the Pacific. Support for participation may be available for a limited number of participants, subject to available resources.
Deadline to express interest: 12 July 2026; 23:59 CEST.
The expression of interest form is now closed.
Please note:
- The form is available in English. However, interested participants may submit their responses in any of the six official UN languages. If needed, applicants may use machine translation tools to complete the form.
- The FWG will facilitate the identification and registration of knowledge holders and practitioners from these regions, who have submitted expressions of interest, taking into consideration regional balance, thematic relevance, gender and youth balance, and other relevant considerations. Selected participants will be contacted by the secretariat via email during the week of 19 July 2026 and invited to complete a registration form to facilitate travel arrangements.
- Applicants who are not selected to receive support may still attend the LCIPP Regional Gathering for the Pacific on their own by registering through the official process. For more information on registration, kindly refer to the notifications shared in the participation section above.

Module I: Observing change through lived, long-term and place-based knowledge
Talanoa – Participants will be divided into five sharing circles (approx. 10-12 participants each), facilitated by a knowledge holder/practitioner. Each facilitator will invite three knowledge holders to share short stories (approx. 10 minutes each) on observed impacts of climate change on livelihoods, ecosystems and biodiversity and implications for cultural heritage and knowledge systems. This will be followed by a guided group reflection.
